Zynga Puts Bitcoin on the $1000 Mark

The value of a Bitcoin has exceeded US$1000 after social games service provider Zynga said that it would start accepting the virtual currency as a payment option.

Zynga also announced that they have begun testing payment processing in Bitcoin:

“In response to Bitcoin’s rise in popularity around the world, Zynga, with help from BitPay, is testing expanded payment options for players to make in-game purchases using Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin has become a popular form of online payment, particularly in the online social games and gambling industry. Zynga started accepting Bitcoin for game payments on a selection of its online games this past weekend, helping the crypto-currency to break the $1,000 mark once again. The value of a Bitcoin proved highly volatile recently, peaking and dropping rapidly. The value of a Bitcoin actually peaked at $1,250 in November last year, but fell sharply in December after its use in China was restricted.
